Samchully Co., Ltd. established S-Power Co., LTd., a private power generation company in conjunction with Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd. and POSCO E&C Co., Ltd. for the development of large-scale power generation projects. The 834MW Ansan CCPP operated by S-Power Co., Ltd. uses LNG, an eco-friendly fuel, to generate power and contributes to the stable operation of the power systems near Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do Province, such as the Sihwa and Banwol Smart Hub and the southwestern part of the Seoul Capital Area.
The combined cycle power plant uses LNG as its fuel source, the process generates fewer sulfurs and fine dust than conventional fuels. It is also an eco-friendly power plant operation due to the fact that the waste cooling water is all evaporated, leaving virtually no impact on the environment for local communities with hot effluents. The Ansan CCPP generates power by using a gas turbine and then produces steam using a steam turbine and heat from the exhaust gas from the primary process. Furthermore, It has been supplying new and renewable energy by operating two units of 2.5MW fuel cells at the Gwangmyeong CHPP of Samchully Co., Ltd. in order to meet the renewable portfolio standard (RPS).
The company is also operating a council with the participation of nearby local governments, including that of Ansan-si, and civic groups to monitor the compliance with the environmental standards concerning emissions on a regular basis. Based on an impeccable facility management system and stable facility operation, S-Power Co., Ltd. has gained recognition for ensuring safety and is trusted by local communities.
